RACE BRIEF
Welcome to St.Neots Riverside Half Marathon Race Brief. Please take the time to read and understand the following Pre race Brief. I know you have probably read hundreds of these, but it is important that you understand our requirements and that which are required by the governing bodies.

Online entries and transfers are now closed. (There will be NO entries or transfers on the day of the race. Please let you friends know not to turn up expecting an entry or transfer)

Age: Minimum age of competitors is 17 on the day.

Parking: Open from 0700 am. It will be in the School grounds & surrounding Streets / industrial areas. Please follow signs and marshal instructions.

Parking is very limited please try to travel together where possible

RACE DAY COLLECTION

Open from 0730am In the Lesuire centre main sports hall, follow the signs from the car parks, here you will collect your running number. Your timing chip will already be attached to the number please do not bend, fold or put pins through chip, please remember to wear your race number,

NO RACE NUMBER = NO TIME

Registration for the main race will close promptly at 0930am, so ensure you leave in plenty of time and please understand there are 2000 other athletes and fun runners also registering, so please dont leave it till the last minute.

VERY IMPORTANT: If you arrive after 0930am you will not be able to register.

Please note: Nothing will be posted to you; registration is on the day only. Please ensure you arrive in plenty of time to register and prepare yourselves (The race will start at 1000am with or without you).

FUN RUN REGISTRATION:

HALF MARATHON COURSE

Follows an undulating but scenic all road route, which passes through Abbotsley, the edge of Waresley, before heading back through Abbotsley and back towards St.Neots.

Be advised this is NOT totally traffic free route. The route to 5.5 miles is traffic free Once you get to warsley turn it is mandatory that you stay in the left hand carraigeway at all times, anyone seen crossing the centre white line from here on will be disqualified, there are officials on bikes checking for this, you have been warned.

There will be toilets available for use at approx 9 miles in Abbotsley Village Hall.

Water Stations: Are situated at approximately 3 miles, 6.5 miles, 9 miles and 11 miles and at the finish. (These are all water bottles only with the lids removed.)

Personal Race Fluid and Nutrition: If you carry and use gels or other types of nutrition while running. Please discard the wrappers at the water stations, or the bottle dump bags after each water station. If you can carry it full, you can carry it empty.

Sorry, but anyone caught discarding litter outside the drop zones will be disqualified and their results removed. (please respect the countryside and do your bit for the enviroment)


FIRST AID

Nicetri and Medical services Ltd will be providing first aid cover for the event. If you are injured or witness a fellow competitor getting injured please alert the nearest marshal who will call for assistance, there are marshals out on the course whom are first aid trained. If another athlete becomes seriously ill please do you best to help. There will be a medical station at 3 and 9 miles on route and at the start and finish. (Please ensure you complete your medical & contact information on the back of your race number. On the back on the number is a contact number for the race director. Should an emergency arise ring this number, we will them liase with medical teams on course to come to your location ).

FINISH AREA

At the finish you will find refreshments and you will be given your well deserved finishers medal.

SPECTATORS

The start and finish will be well marshaled and cordoned for your safety. please don’t climb on the barriers. For those that want to watch your runner out on the course there is a car park with toilets and refreshments at Abbotsley village hall (3 and 9 miles same spot) please follow the signs

If you wish to drive to Abbotsley to view the race, please remember to leave prior to 0945 before the road is closed for the start of the race. Once the last runner has come through at 3 miles the road will be reopened.

PLEASE DO NOT PARK ON THE COURSE OR GRASS VERGES.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Toilets & Changing:
Toilet facilities are available at the registration and start/finish area, please ensure you try to use them prior to going to the start area as there will only be 2 units there. Shower facilities available within the lesuire centre to freshen up after the race

Baggage storage will be available if required. Your baggage tag is attached to the bottom of your race number. Use this facility at your own risk we accept no responsibility for lose or damage however so caused.

Refreshments: available at registration and after the race.


The race will be run according to the UKA rules. Anyone breaking the rules will be penalised and may be disqualified..

The St Neots Half Marathon is firmly established on the race calender with a developing reputation for putting on a top class event. The course is renowned as potential for PB’s as its three mile downhill finish allows for some seriously fast times. 2015 saw a complete sell out of 1500 race entries within six hours of opening. This year is shaping up to be an even better race. The new and improved start and finish for 2015 worked well and we be in place again for 2016.

Routes

The route is a one-lap course on country roads. The course, which is slightly undulating, will be fully marshalled and policed. You must obey the instructions of the marshals and/0r police at all times. You MUST race on the LEFT HAND SIDE of the road unless instructed otherwise by a marshal.

Arrival and Registration

PLEASE NOTE you will collect your race pack at registration on the day of the event. Nothing will be posted prior to the event.

A FULL race brief will be emailed to your registered email address during the week leading up to the event. If for any reason you don’t receive this email, full race information will be available HERE at least two days prior to the event, Please ensure you check the web site and your email prior to travel for any important updates.

Registration will be open from 07.30 – 09.30 on race day only. Please ensure you arrive early to avoid that last minute rus

Toilets and Bag Storage

Race Headquarters is where you will find limited toilets, showers, changing rooms and refreshment facilities. Extra Portable toilets will be situated outside the building at the Rec. There will be limited last minute portable  toilets at the start. DO NOT USE THE STREETS AS A TOILET. anyone caught will be instantly disqualified, its also illegal and there will be plenty of police around, you have been warned.

A supervised baggage storage area will be provided at HQ. fill in your label and hand it in. Storage will be at the owner’s risk.

Minimum age of competitors

The minimum age to take part in this event is 17 years old on Race Day.

Parking

Parking will be at the venue Recreation centre and surrounding approved car parks follow marshals and signs.

Identification

You will be issued with a race number which must be clearly visible either on your front at all times. Number belts are allowed, all we ask it that we can see your number at the timing points as a backup to the electronic system. YOU MUST NOT ALLOW ANY ONE ELSE TO RACE WITH YOUR NUMBER.

Safety

If circumstances deem the course or travel conditions to be unsafe or it falls outside of the ARA guidelines, Nicetri have the right to change/move, or cancel the event at short notice.

Chip Timing

Chip Timing Solutions will provide computerised chip timing via an electronic chip system that will be issued to you with your number. Your finish time and splits will be available as you cross the line and for your spectators live online via a smart phone instantly.

Race start

Main race start will be at 10 am. Ensure you are on Potton road which is a five minute walk from race HQ (follow signs) ready for race briefing at 09.50 am

Water Stations

Drink stations at approximately 3, 6, 9 and 11 miles.

Bottle water will be supplied at the water stations, There will be numerous BOTTLE & GEL drops around the course please ensure you use them or carry it until you find one. RANDOM BOTTLE & GEL DROPPING WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION.

Keep Racing Tidy

If you intend on using race nutrition please keep hold of the empty wrappers untill you reach a suitable place to discard it. We would apprieciate if you could either wait until you reach designated water stations or alternately please drop them by race signage or a marshal point so they can be collected during the race clean up. 

Fun Run

Fun Run will start at 09:00 am. The start and finish will be near the Astroturf pitches behind the Leisure Centre. The 3k course is around St Neots Community College fields and along farm tracks. There will be plenty of marshals and signs.

Each finisher will receive a quality medal.

Entries will be taken on the day up to 8:30am; the fee will be £3.50 per entry
